After landing at Antalya Airport, you will be met for the transfer to Kemer. Once you have checked in, the remainder of the day is available for resting and becoming familiar with the hotel surroundings.
The property was originally one of the region’s oldest horse ranches. It has since been restored and converted into comfortable accommodation while retaining its natural atmosphere. The tropical-style garden, birds, greenery and the old stable—now used as a gym—reflect the history of the site.
In the evening, the riders will come together for a welcome dinner. No horseback riding takes place on the arrival day.
Breakfast is followed by the first meeting with the horses. The guides will introduce the riding procedures, explain the safety rules and assist the group with brushing, preparing and saddling the horses.
A two-hour trial ride will then take place in the wooded area around Kuzdere. The purpose of this session is to assess the riding level of the group and confirm the most appropriate horse-and-rider combinations before the longer trail begins.
During the ride, we will pass through citrus and pomegranate plantations, see natural springs and ride near the remains of an abandoned settlement. The landscape also includes a small grove of palm trees.
Walking, trotting and cantering may all be included, depending on the ability of the riders and the suitability of the trail.
Once back at the ranch, the guide will give a full route briefing. Baggage procedures, packing recommendations, trail conditions and practical preparations will all be explained before departure.
You will have free time around midday to relax by the pool, visit the beach or prepare your riding equipment. A guided excursion to Mount Chimaera and ancient Olympos will also be included in the day’s programme.
Tonight is the last hotel stay before the multi-day trail section.
Riding pace: Walk, trot and canter
Approximate riding time: 2 hours
After breakfast, we will check out and meet at the stable at around 11:00 AM to begin the main riding journey.
Each rider will prepare their horse and pack the items required during the day into the saddlebag. Larger baggage will be placed in the support vehicle and delivered to the overnight locations. Belongings that are not needed on the trail may be left securely with the team until the group returns.
The first part of the route takes us towards Kesme Boğazı Canyon. After roughly one and a half to two hours, we will arrive beside its mountain river. Here, riders can rest, swim, drink fresh water and take photographs before lunch.
From the canyon, the trail begins climbing towards Tahtalı Mountain. Rising to 2,365 metres, it dominates the surrounding region and is often linked to the legends of ancient Mount Olympus.
The uphill terrain provides suitable stretches for trotting and cantering when conditions permit. We will spend a further two to two and a half hours riding before reaching Gedelme.
The village is known for its Byzantine castle and enormous ancient plane trees, some of which are thought to be around two millennia old.
Accommodation tonight will be in a bungalow near the castle, with beds and hot water provided.
Riding pace: Walk, trot and canter
Approximate riding time: 4–4.5 hours
The seven-day programme continues directly towards the higher part of Tahtalı Mountain, without including the additional “Lycian Switzerland” riding day featured in the eight-day itinerary.
After breakfast and caring for the horses, we will begin climbing towards the highest elevation of the journey. Today’s route reaches approximately 2,000 metres above sea level.
As altitude increases, the dense trees gradually disappear and the trail enters a more exposed mountain environment. Clouds can settle across the upper slopes, creating the feeling of riding through the sky.
The route passes remote valleys and traditional shepherding areas, with expansive views that change as we travel over the mountain.
After reaching the highest point, we will begin the long descent towards Beycik. This village enjoys an exceptional position between the mountains and the Mediterranean, offering views in both directions.
The group will stop here to eat, rest and attend to the horses. Overnight accommodation is arranged in private village rooms with hot showers rather than tents.
With approximately six hours of riding, this is the most demanding day of the seven-day Lycian Way horseback riding tour.
Riding pace: Mainly walking and trotting, with brief gallops
Approximate riding time: 6 hours
Today we leave the higher mountain terrain behind and continue descending towards the Mediterranean coastline.
The trail runs through remote countryside with views across undeveloped bays and forested coastal landscapes. The day may also offer an opportunity to observe wild horses living in the surrounding area.
After crossing the largest bay, we will reach a protected turtle beach within a national park. Access is limited, giving the location an isolated and peaceful atmosphere. At times, riders may complete much of the route without meeting other visitors.
The evening camp will already be arranged, with tents and food prepared before our arrival. There will be time to swim, cool off and wash using water from a fresh mountain spring. Subject to sea and safety conditions, riders may also have an opportunity to enter the water with their horses.
Anyone who does not wish to camp may arrange transport to a hotel and back for a €200 surcharge.
The riding is mostly at a walk and trot, while the beach may provide a suitable setting for controlled cantering and memorable photographs.
Riding pace: Walk and trot, with canter on the beach
Approximate riding time: Up to 6 hours
The final trail day takes us away from the coastal camp and back in the direction of the ranch.
Along the route, we will cross five different bays, each offering its own views of the Mediterranean coastline. We will also pass through Phaselis, an ancient port city with approximately 2,000 years of history.
If timing and conditions permit, we will pause near the archaeological site for lunch before continuing towards Tekirova.
The last stage of the journey passes through the village and includes sections suitable for trotting and galloping. We expect to reach the ranch in the evening.
After the horses have been unsaddled, checked and comfortably settled, riders will have time to take a shower and relax. Massage and Turkish bath facilities may also be enjoyed before the group gathers for a final gala dinner.
Riding pace: Walk, trot and canter
Departure arrangements will be organised according to each rider’s flight time.
Those with a later flight may visit the beach, walk around Kemer or spend some time shopping. When possible, a short souvenir stop may also be made during the transfer to Antalya Airport.
The tour concludes with your airport transfer and farewell to the team after seven days of mountain paths, Mediterranean bays, ancient sites and memorable riding along the Lycian Way.
